Laptop fell, the underside of the laptop was damaged & the points where the screws connect to the main body of the laptop on the hinge side of the base are damaged. Part of the housing chipped off at the back & the side around the a/c connecter. The power button became dislodged. I brought it to be repaired in Dublin during lockdown as dell told me it would have to be sent to the UK to be assessed & repaired. The shop in Dublin glued it together – that was a bad choice. The power button can still move slightly out of place as it sits below the level of the housing (this is not a major issue). The glue has given up & it is coming apart again – I think this has resulted in the a/c connector or the battery becoming damaged. The battery will not charge even when the laptop is powered off, it's currently at 2% & as the a/c adapter is not fitting very securely when it falls out, the laptop powers off.
I would like to get the housing replaced/properly repaired & not glued; I'm hoping this might be something you can do rather than sending it to dell in the UK as it's supposed to take ages. Let me know if this is something you can help with & a rough idea how long it would take.
